Betrayals Are Going to Get Exposed

The tribes reconvene for the first standalone Reward Challenge: Losing Face. After explaining the challenge’s instructions, host Jeff Probst reveals to the castaways the choices of reward: comfort items or three hens and a rooster. The tribes show more enthusiasm to the chickens. Before the challenge starts, Kama sits out Aubry Bracco and Ron Clark.

David Wright, Rick Devens, and Wardog DaSilva assemble their wheelbarrow for Manu moments before Kama does, but they are overtaken slightly as Eric Hafemann, Joe Anglim, and Julie Rosenberg untie the knots and collect their sandbags at a faster rate. The tribes become even while dumping their sandbags in the trough, but Manu takes the lead after the remaining Kama members struggle to reassemble their wheelbarrow into a slingshot. During this time, Wendy Diaz injures her foot with a wheelbarrow part. Chris Underwood knocks down all four targets for Manu compared to Kama’s one, knocked down by Julia Carter, allowing Manu to win reward and their first challenge overall. Manu chooses the chickens and as the tribes walk back to camp, Wendy notices the pain inflicted by the wheelbarrow part from the challenge.

Day 8
The tribes gather for the Immunity Challenge: Beyond the Wheel. Before Jeff explains the rules, he takes back the tribal Immunity Idol, only for Julie to hold onto it briefly, receiving reactions from both Jeff and Manu. After Julie and Victoria sit out for Kama, the challenge commences and the tribes are relatively even throughout the key-collecting section of the challenge. Wendy is noted by Jeff to be swimming very well in the challenge despite a broken ankle. Manu receives a slight lead until both tribes are equalized during the puzzle. However, David, Kelley, and Lauren fail to solve the first bag of the puzzle, while Aubry, Julia, and Ron pull ahead to form their ship’s wheel. The trio spin the wheel amongst celebrations raising the Kama flag, winning their third straight immunity and sending Manu again to their third Tribal Council.

The Manu tribe arrives at Tribal Council where Rick states that the tribe would be perceived as losers, losing Immunity Challenges as well as the flint. Wardog adds the tribe have been arguing about chickens, and Lauren explains to Jeff that Wendy did not want to kill the chickens. Wendy counters by saying that she is just not comfortable with it. Wendy is briefly dubbed the ‘warpup’ after Wardog claims that he sees a little stubbornness in Wendy when he talked to her about being vegetarian. Rick recounts that the last two votes have been about increasing the chances of winning challenges, which have not worked out, and so the tribe has to re-evaluate. Kelley believes that the vote should come to loyalty, having to trust the people that they are with as the numbers get smaller. David believes that challenge liabilities have become irrelevant to the vote, and that votes should be based on who is the most socially threatening. Kelley struggles to answer Jeff’s questions as she tries to process David’s comment. Wardog is also thrown off by David’s comment. Wendy then claims that the tribe is hierarchical and that she is at the bottom, so she attempts to extract every bit of information in Tribal Council. Jeff is fascinated by the fact that Manu is playing in a complex way despite losing all the time. Rick hopes that the strategy helps them be more developed over the Kama tribe. Chris says that the people here are good players and are real.
